Amidst the confusion I feel about where I stand as an individual in the spectrum of liberal to conservative the exciting thing is that the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia will be full of networking opportunities and insides on topics such as racial justice, voting rights, and women of color participating in the highest level of government.

Wake the Vote is co-sponsoring a really fantastic event called Truth to Power in downtown Philadelphia with another awesome cohort called Rock the Vote! Our professor, Dr. Melissa Harris-Perry is leading a panel on the fight to raise the minimum wage to $15. We will attend important events about the militarization of police, the economy and race, and workshops crafted to help millennials organize and get out the vote in November!

I’m also looking forward to comparing the energy levels of the DNC to last week’s RNC, as well as the differences in which different media outlets cover them!

Stay tuned for more updates and be sure to follow @wakethevote on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram!
