Personal Political Philosophy

My “must read” title for college students seeking to understand something about this election: Why the Right Went Wrong: Conservatism–From Goldwater to the Tea Party and Beyond By E.J. Dionne

My approach to or philosophy of American politics and elections: “History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage, need not be lived again” – Maya Angelou

“Don’t boo, vote!”- Barack Obama

The four (4) people (living or deceased) I would invite to dinner for the purpose of better understanding American political life are: Ruth Bader Ginsberg, Ronald Reagan, Loretta Lynch, W.E.B. Dubois, Barack Obama

Wake the Vote Experience

My most memorable Wake the Vote experience so far: My most memorable Wake the Vote experience would be hearing First Lady Michelle Obama speak at the Democratic National Convention in person. Not only did she set the tone for the DNC but she also gave me life! I am so grateful that I was able to see her while she is still First Lady! My excitement for Michelle Obama was so obvious that the older couple sitting next to me in the arena gave me all of the Michelle Obama paraphernalia they received when I did not get any.
